Out of the Woods: Is it a relief that Elin and Tiger's divorce is final?

When the news broke that the car crash that led to a 911 call that unleashed the media who revealed that the wholesome-packaged golf phenom Tiger Woods was having affairs in the plural, I was on it. I wrote, in what I intended to be a compassionate plea, asking people to steer clear of judging Elin Nordegren, to avoid harshly debating whether she should stay in her marriage or flee. I said I thought we should support the quiet wife of this superstar athlete in doing what it was she needed to do to be the healthiest possible woman and mother during a marriage crisis and media circus.

And I meant it. When a celebrity male is caught cheating, why do we immediately look to the betrayed wife and make sweeping assumptions and accusations as soon as she stands next to him at the podium during the inevitable press conference or walks, presumably with a Barbara Walters interview to soon follow?

Eyes are rolled at the person cheating and then judgments made of the spouse. And while these things are always complicated, it seems like one more victimization added to a big pile of infidelity and lying and God only knows what else. I would so much rather use our powers for good, for the people calling in to Larry King and tweeting with Ryan Seacrest and posting on People.com to send good thoughts and positive energy toward the person who really has to pick up the pieces, not pick her (and let's be honest, it's most often a her) apart for choosing to see a marriage counselor or divorce attorney.

That said -- and I will likely get panned for this -- I admit that I am relieved to read that Elin and Tiger's divorce is final. After months of intensive therapy and trying to mend so many broken things, she's no longer officially Mrs. Woods. And I'm glad to hear that.

I wouldn't have criticized her for staying longer or forever. I might not have understood it, but I don't live in their marriage. I seriously considered staying in my marriage for things I never, ever thought I would tolerate. I felt that I had to do my family the service of thinking about it, of trying as hard as I could, of really exploring my own boundaries of trust and forgiveness and love. In the end, I left and had my own divorce finalized, not with any media coverage or public revelation of settlement numbers or much more than a glass of champagne at a steakhouse with my parents. But after the hell that was separation and divorce and court and a parenting agreement and continued custody issues, I would never, ever wish that on anyone. And I don't think I could wag a finger at a woman who was willing to continue on in her marriage or who didn't take the step of considering or counseling before she closed the door to the family home behind her. Limits, like marriages, are personal, private, and our own to handle, whether poorly or well, with humbleness or with outrageous ego, in the spotlight or in quiet corners, in sickness and in health.

Hollywood Boulevard 'Iron Man 2' premiere

Red carpet report: 'Iron Man 2' premiere

The scene: Hollywood Boulevard was shut down for one block and screaming fans gathered across the street from El Capitan, in front of the Kodak Theatre, to gawk at the celebs, who walked a long red carpet reminiscent of the Academy Awards. "It feels like the Oscars right now," Johansson said. "It's a little bit overwhelming but I'm looking forward to the popcorn inside." Favreau said, "It looks like people want to come to see the movie. That's exciting. I hope when they see it we live up to what their expectations are." Downey, who stars as Iron Man Tony Stark in the sequel to the original blockbuster, signed autographs for fans before he and his cast mates took to a stage and greeted the jubilant crowd. "This is amazing because now people are very aware of and interested in (the movie). There's more pressure. There's more pleasure, to tell you the truth."

Fashion fix: Johansson dazzled in a Giorgio Armani Privé moon-green triple organza lamé cocktail dress. "I wanted to wear something that was fun and maybe a bit of a departure and screamed Iron Man to me. And this was it," she said. "It called to me." Paltrow showed off her gams and cleavage in a Giorgio Armani shorts suit in a gold metallic silk jacquard fabric with a degradé effect. "I thought, 'It's going to be in California.' I never think of California being a long gown type of town unless it's the Oscars," Paltrow said. "And this was made for me." Rourke donned a snazzy brown three-piece suit with lapels that appeared to be made of an exotic skin. "(It's) some kind of crocodile or something," Rourke said. "It's not real, though. I don't want to hear from the animal activists. I didn't make it. A guy named David August made it. Sylvester Stallone turned me on to the guy. He's really a rock and roll dude." Jackson, in his trademark Kangol hat, rocked a Giorgio Armani Nehru style gray linen jacket with Giorgio Armani jeans and cobalt blue shagreen print tennis shoes. Downey and his wife, Susan Downey, an executive producer on the film, were color coordinated. He sported a dark blue Lanvin suit with blue and red Lanvin tennis shoes that matched his tie. His better half wore a strapless dark blue dress and red shoes.

Family fun: Cheadle was happy to have his two daughters, ages 13 and 15, with him for a change. He said he's glad they were interested in one of his projects. "They saw Hotel for Dogs but they were a little older for that," he said. "This is kind of right in their sweet spot. It's nice. I hope they like it. It's not going to make me happy if they come out and say, 'That was terrible, dad.' Then I'll say, 'That's the last movie I'm taking you guys to.' "

News you can use: Is Downey ready for a third installment? "Right now I'm ready for some popcorn," he answered. Favreau, an executive producer, said, "Number three is coming up in a few years. We haven't really talked about this. After Captain America, after Thor— I would love to collaborate with these people again." Jackson, who plays Nick Fury, has been a fan of Iron Man for a while. "I read comic books all the time," he revealed. "I would really love to own the rights to a comic-book series called 100 Bullets, which is really great. Maybe if they hear this they'll call me and give me the rights."

Lady GaGa thanks Twitter fans with bizarre video

Watches this new video enjoy An Inaugural Message from Tween Gaga

Lady GaGa is officially the Queen of Twitter. As of this weekend she's the most followed person on the mirco blogging site, having over taken pop princess Britbey Spears with 5,741,450 followers. And what did GaGa do to celebrate her reign? Why she recorded a slightly unhinged video for all her fans of course. Speaking into a mirror while wearing a fluffy fur coat and waving a bright blue wand, GaGa declares, "Thank you for beginning my reign as Twitter queen. May you always have soft cuticles while tweeting, may you never have carpal tunnel." We actually think it's very sweet that GaGa's taken the time to record this clip for her fans - it's not like she had do it. Are you one of the nearly six million people that GaGa is thanking?

participating Marina Diamondis vs. Paloma Faith – who wore it best?

Marina Diamondis vs. Paloma Faith – who wore it best?

These two ladies both have fairly wacky fashion sense so it comes as no surprise that they both jumped at the chance to wear a dress that looks like a giant Hungry Hippo. Well, wouldn’t you? No? Oh, alright then…

Marina (minus her Diamonds) first wore this Yang Du creation in April to a Radio One interview session. The Welsh singer accessorised with a red patent Vivienne Westwood bag, bright pink lippy and super high stacked heels. With a teeny, tiny figure like Marina’s, she probably wasn’t too upset that the Hippo made her bottom look a tad wide.

Paloma rocked up to V Festival this weekend in the same toothy frock, choosing to add right red platform strappies, a huge hair piece and a grin to rival her Hippo chum’s.

Who pulls of this ker-azy look best?
